Ocean Acres Animal Sanctuary
Ocean Acres Animal Sanctuary was founded by Karen Whittaker in 2020. She has personally rescued, rehabilitated and re-homed many animals, and is 100% dedicated to the care and welfare of animals in need.
There is a big stray dog problem in Barbados, with many of these dogs being dogs that were previously owned, mistreated and then abandoned. As well, people don't regularly spay/neuter, making the population of strays grow even more.
Everyday Karen and her team of volunteers find more digs and cats that need help. They work tirelessly to rehabilitate animals from traumatized backgrounds, and to heal the wounded. There is an average of around 450 dogs & cats at the sanctuary at any given time, which is set on 4.5 acres of land.
Stray to Play is honoured to be working with Ocean Acres Animal Sanctuary to help bring dogs over from Barbados, and place them into loving homes in Canada.

Stray to Play is a registered charity dedicated to rescuing dogs from all over the globe and finding them loving, lasting homes. We do this by working with volunteers, foster homes and veterinarians, and, of course, our rescue partners.
