Jake

Ideal home: Jake will do best in a calm home where his people are home more often than not. Someone who will play with him and allow him to have his zoomies but who is patient and willing to work with him. He would do best in a detached home or townhouse as he does still have some leash reactivity to dogs. He is quite a social dog with people and he could do well in a home with older children. He would likely do best as the only dog in the home, but gets along well with calm dogs.

Personality: Jake is very sweet and loving. He is very gentle when taking treats and is generally well behaved. He's got a great personality once comfortable and wants to play with his humans and likes to race around with zoomies. He is not a big fan of playing with other dogs and he seems to prefer people, but he mostly gets along well with other dogs. He is a big fan of checking in on you by coming up and giving you a nose boop. He is very loving and very good when someone is sick he knows and is always checking. He is very sensitive to the feelings of his humans. He definitely needs someone who can give him lots of love because you can tell he missed out on it as a pup. Once he is comfortable, he likes to play with his toys and walk and be silly. He has a silly side for sure.

Age: ~3 years old
Breed: Lab mix
Weight: 60lbs
Gender: Male
Energy level: Medium

Good with dogs: Jake is currently fostered with two other dogs. He's gotten along well with one from the start, but with the other dog there have been instances where he would charge the other dog without warning and vice versa. They will cuddle and be fine most of the time, but still have their moments where they don't get along. When he was in boarding, he got along well with the other dogs.
Good with cats: Unknown. He does not have high prey drive, so could be okay with a dog-savvy cat.
Good with kids (+ ages): 10+
Good with strangers: He is fine with people and hasn't been reactive. He may stick back a bit for a moment, then will go smell and is totally fine.
Guarding issues: Very minor with his food, only with the other dogs in the home.
Behavioural issues: Jake was under socialized and untrained in his past home, he will need to continue working on his socialization and confidence. In his previous home, his behaviour went unchecked and eventually escalated, resulting in a bite to a visitor in the home. Since returning to our care, he has been completely fine and sweet with people.
House trained: Yes
Crate trained: He gets very anxious and loud when crated. He is much better suited to be left out and doesn't get into anything and is not destructive.
Separation anxiety: None seen
Destructive: Only when crated
Leash skills: Jake is great on walks both with his foster's other dogs and alone. He will react if he sees other dogs and bark, but responds well to correction. He loves his walks.
Okay with manipulations: He is fine with all touching, loves to be cuddled.
Medical issues: None
