Clo

Ideal home: Clo is an adaptable dog who is pretty laidback and would do well in a calm space. He has lived in an apartment, so he would likely do well in any type of home but he will alert bark at hallway noises so a quieter building would be best. Clo would be best suited to a home with no young children and would likely benefit from a home with no other dogs, as he does resource guard. It will be important for his adopter to work on this.

Personality: Clo is generally friendly and affectionate with his people. He's quite social and likes to say hi to other dogs on walks. He enjoys his cuddles and sitting next to his people, but is also quite independent and happy to snooze on his bed. Overall, he's a sweet pup with a fairly typical Dachshund personality.

Age: ~2 years old

Breed: Dachshund

Weight: 28lbs

Gender: Male

Energy level: Medium

Good with dogs: Clo is curious and friendly with other dogs. He can be playful after being introduced.

Good with cats: No, he will bark constantly at the cat.

Good with kids (+ ages): 10+

Good with strangers: He can be a bit shy with new people, but he generally is friendly. If they have a dog, he tends to be more receptive.

Guarding issues: Yes, and this will be something for his adopter to work on; he guards both toys and food. He does growl to give a warning, then will try to bite if you persist so diligence will be important.

Behavioural issues: Resource guarding of high value treats.

House trained: Yes

Crate trained: He will whine and whimper. Sometimes he settles after 10 mins, sometimes not. He is not a fan of being crated and is more stressed when crated than being left out.

Separation anxiety: Clo is fine being left alone with free roam, but will whine if left crated.

Destructive: He has chewed his bed when he was left crated, but is not destructive otherwise.

Leash skills: Great loose leash walking. He doesn't pull and pretty much walks at the heel position most of the time

Okay with manipulations: Mostly yes, but he is not a fan of having his feet and lower belly touched too much. He will always give a warning when he doesn't like it anymore.

Medical issues: He is overweight, so should lose a few pounds.
