Frequently Asked Questions
S2P is a foster based rescue, which means that we don't actually have a physical address. Upon arrival, our dogs are transferred into their approved foster home, and remain in foster care until they are adopted.
The best way to reach us is through email (info@straytoplay.org). Please remember that we are 100% volunteer-run, so you may not hear back from us straight away.
We charge $825 for dogs under the age of one, $750 for dogs that are 1-8 years old and $450 for seniors. A bonded pair is $1,200.
S2P gets no funding help from the government or city. Our adoption fees go towards things like transporting the dogs, spay/neuter, vaccinations, medical bills and supplies. A portion of the adoption fee is also sent back to our rescue partners to help cover the cost to transport the dogs to Canada.
We always match our dogs with the home that best suits their needs. This means that the dog that you applied for may have had a better match. However, we will always keep your application on file. So if there's ever another dog that you would like to adopt, you won't need to fill out another application form. Just contact us to let us know.
Absolutely. In fact, this is usually done before the dog is even in our care to help with population control. The only time this isn't done is if it's a puppy, but we will still pay for the procedure once the puppy is old enough.
We are a diverse rescue, and this really shows when you look at the dogs that we have saved. We don't discriminate against age, breed or size, as we believe that all dogs deserve a loving, lasting home.
Because our dogs come from shelters, there is no way to guarantee 100% the age or breed of the dog. We rely on our trusted vets to estimate the age of our dogs, while their breed is mostly based on appearance.
All of our bios are provided by our fosters and are always subject to change with change of environment. Because of this, we only guarantee it is accurate in regards to their current environment. When they come into your home, there will likely be an adjustment period.
S2P dogs are from local shelters or owner surrenders, as well as from Barbados. Regretfully, these countries have an abundance of stray dogs; many are born on the streets and have never experienced human touch. We work together with rescue partners to help dogs find lasting, loving homes right here in the GTA.
We are currently working with shelters in Ontario, as well as with other rescues within the province. This helps us to help dogs in our community find loving, lasting homes.
Under some circumstances, yes, we do. Please see the rehoming your pet page if you are thinking about surrendering your dog.
